MONGOLIA-U.S. CONSULAR DIALOGUE HELD
Mongolia-U.S. Consular Dialogue between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the U.S. Department of State were held in Washington, D.C., on September 28, 2026.
The Mongolian delegation was led by Mr. Binderiya Batsukh, Acting Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the U.S. delegation was led by Ms. Mora Namdar, Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs. Mr. Michael DeSombre, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Mr. Batbayar Ulziidelger, Ambassador of Mongolia to the United States, and relevant officials from both sides also participated.
The two sides exchanged views on consular cooperation, travel between the two countries, assistance to Mongolian nationals detained or serving sentences in the United States, and the U.S. Visa Bond Program.
The Mongolian side presented its “Travel Responsibly” campaign, as well as measures to strengthen border-control capabilities and enhance the security of Mongolian passports. The Mongolian side expressed its hope that these efforts would contribute to Mongolia’s removal from the U.S. Visa Bond Program list.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation on consular matters and emphasized the importance of regular consultations in protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, facilitating travel, and further strengthening Mongolia-U.S. consular cooperation.
