Mongolia-UN Hold the First Meeting of Joint Steering Committee
In connection with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework-2023 (UNSDCF) entering into full swing in Mongolia for 2023-2027, the Government of Mongolia and the United Nations in Mongolia held the first meeting of the Joint Steering Committee (JSC) on March 17, 2023.
The JSC was tasked to provide strategic oversight and direction to the “UNSDCF-2023 ”, approved in May 2022, implementation and ensure its alignment to evolving country contexts, national, regional, and international development processes, mechanisms, and goals. It is co-chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economy and Development, and the United Nations in Mongolia and is composed of relative Government bodies and representatives of the UN system organizations.
Within the framework of ensuring the implementation of the UNSDCF in the next five years, the result groups will be formed and work in the directions of 1) Human development and well-being, 2) Green, inclusive, and sustainable development and 3) Human-centered governance and human rights.
The JSC meeting also reviewed the results of the previous Cooperation Framework, known as the UN Development Assistance Framework, implemented from 2017 to 2022.
The next meeting of the JSC is scheduled for October 2023.
